HydraFacial MD for acne

You’ve heard of facials, and maybe you’ve even had a few, but the kinds you get at a department store beauty counter or as an add-on to your massage are merely pampering services. At Woodlands Aesthetics, our facials have a purpose, and if you have acne, that’s exactly what you need.

Our HydraFacial MD approaches skin care with three distinct phases that eliminate acne and clear away the scars it leaves behind. 

Phase 1

The first step in our HydraFacial process is the cleanse-and-peel stage. When we clean your skin, we go deep beneath the surface by exfoliating the top layers. However, instead of using harsh abrasives, we gently lift the layers away with glycolic acid and salicylic acid peels to remove dead skin cells that clog pores and contribute to acne. 

The process also creates a vortex of fluid on your skin’s surface that dislodges dirt and debris and simultaneously hydrates your skin. 

Phase 2

The second phase of the HydraFacial focuses on extraction and hydration. In this step, we target clogged pores using a combination of suction and gentle abrasion to remove dirt, oil, makeup residue, blackheads, and whiteheads from deep within your pores. Unlike manual extraction, the HydraFacial tip provides gentle suction that avoids damaging healthy tissue.

Phase 2 also hydrates your skin with a special serum containing antioxidants that help your skin fight environmental free radicals.

Phase 3

The last phase of your HydraFacial is the infuse-and-protect stage, which defends your skin against future damage while helping maintain an acne-free complexion. 

This step uses a special serum containing peptides that stimulate collagen production while also providing antioxidant protection against environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution. In addition, the serum contains hyaluronic acid, which keeps your skin hydrated throughout the day and reduces inflammation caused by acne breakouts.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy for acne scars

Our IPL laser therapy is a noninvasive cosmetic treatment that uses light energy to clear away the ghosts of acne past. It targets and destroys the bacteria in your skin that cause acne, and it stimulates collagen production — which is essential for reducing scarring. Our Woodland Aesthetics team is highly experienced with IPL, and the treatment is relatively quick and painless, with minimal downtime and side effects.

IPL treatments are most effective on raised or discolored acne scars, such as ice pick, boxcar, rolling, and hypertrophic scars. The treatment can also help improve hyperpigmentation caused by acne scarring.
